The Bay Shore Beautification Society, a subcommittee of the Award-Winning Bay Shore-Brightwaters Summit Council, is a volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the beauty and pride of our community. A few of our accomplishments include:
Planting and maintaining the garden at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Main Street
Underwriting the new garden at the Bay Shore Middle School entrance
Constructing a national award-winning Community Reflection Garden on Main Street
Displaying 530 flower baskets along Main Street, side streets, and the railroad station
Decorating the town for the winter season with 550 wreaths (provided by BID), ribbons, bows and roping with help from the Bay Shore High School Interact Club
Organizing the annual community-wide “Light the Night” luminary event
Organizing the annual Winter Fest at Dr. King’s Park
Organizing the annual Pumpkin Fest at Sagtikos Manor
Organizing the annual Haunted Garden event in the Reflection Garden
Planting over 130 tree surrounds with liriope grass along Main Street
Purchasing twelve new trash pails for Main Street
Weeding and maintenance of Main Street
Planting a fir tree at the Band Shell; decorating and lighting for the winter season
Sponsoring the annual fundraising luncheon in June
Initiating the “Nominate your Neighbor” program which recognizes well-maintained homes
Conducting the Street Garden Contest to recognize gardens viewable from the street
Burying overhead communication wires at the Band Shell and Reflection Garden
Planting gardens at the railroad station in collaboration with the Community Forum
Planting gardens throughout the town
Applying for, and receiving grants from local and state legislatures for Bay Shore projects
Increasing pride and real estate values by keeping our community clean and attractive.
